The REIGN dataset tracks national elections across 190 countries, coding each electoral stage — announcement, vote, delay, or voiding — from 1915 to the present. It records the election type (legislative, executive, or referendum), whether the vote was direct and regular, whether the incumbent won, and whether power changed hands.

REIGN is a core resource for studying electoral integrity, authoritarian elections, and regime stability, and underpins the CoupCast coup-forecasting system.
