The Third-Party Peacekeeping Missions data set (Version 3.1) records 215 third-party peacekeeping operations deployed in 71 intrastate disputes worldwide between 1947 and 2014. Each row is one peacekeeping mission, i.e. one deployment episode of international personnel - by the United Nations, a regional intergovernmental organization, or a state or ad hoc group of states - into a country experiencing civil war, secession, or national-liberation conflict.

For every mission the data set records the target state and its COW code, the dispute and region, the type of third party, the lead personnel-contributing state, the mission purposes, the deployment start and end dates and duration, whether the mission had a UN mandate and which UN or other documents authorized it, personnel and force-composition figures, and a set of outcome indicators: whether ceasefire or peace agreements existed before deployment, whether hostilities resumed during deployment or within one year after withdrawal, whether a peace agreement was signed while peacekeepers were deployed, and whether third parties or major powers mediated. Coverage runs from 1947 (Netherlands/Dutch East Indies) to missions still ongoing at the end of 2014, the data set's cut-off date. All categorical codes follow the coding manual of Version 3.1 and are reproduced with the manual's own value labels.
